Cycling made fun
in the Hochwald adventure region

When people think of holidays in the Hochwald, cycling won’t be the first thing that comes to mind in most cases, but that’s no problem for avid cyclists, since those in the know about the excellent cycling infrastructure in the area can enjoy beautiful cycling paths and mountain bike trails all to themselves, which have everything a cycling lover could hope for without any of the crowds.

Whether it’s a cosy family bike ride on the Ruwer-Hochwald Cycle Route – a former railway line – or mountain bike trips through the ever-changing hilly landscape, there are attractive offers to suit all tastes. And for cyclists who have learnt to appreciate e-bikes, charging stations are now available in the western part of the Hunsrück where you can quickly recharge your batteries and tackle the climbs the more relaxed way.

In the spirit of “Let nature be nature”, the Hunsrück – Hochwald National Park was founded in 2015 not far from the Hochwald holiday region. Since the idea was also to make the natural environment, which is returning more to its original state, more accessible to people, the national park team are currently developing various cycling routes where cyclists will one day be able to “experience” nature without having a negative influence on it or even destroying it. Information on the current progress can be found here:
